Being the son of the world famous Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti was raised with Afrobeat. As a nine-year-old boy he wanted to sing and told his father; shortly after, he served as a mascot and would perform a few songs with Egypt 80 as a warm-up act. The hypnotizing mix of jazz, funk, and African rhythms came naturally, as did the political impact of the music. After Fela died in 1997 Seun, though only 14 years of age then, became the lead singer of Egypt 80. While in school, he had to choose between a career in music and one in African Football, for which he also has an outstanding talent. He released his debut album Many Things in 2008; his latest album, A Long Way To The Beginning, was released earlier this year.
