QUIQUE at Kura Hulanda Village
The festival opens on Wednesday, August 27 with a free concert by QUIQUE in Kura Hulanda Village.
QUIQUE (real name Enrique Ebbink) hails from Amsterdam and has a Dutch father and a Colombian mother. He experienced both Dutch and Latin American cultures from a young age and delved deeper into the latter during his time as a music student. Having mostly listened to hip hop in his younger years, QUIQUE discovered reggaeton and traditional styles such as salsa and Cumbia and now incorporates them in his music. The combination seems to be catching on, because millions have clicked on his songs in recent years. QUIQUE performed at prestigious Dutch festivals such as NN North Sea Jazz, Lowlands and Down the Rabbit Hole and did successful club tours. He has turned into quite the stage animal, whose one and only goal seems to be for every listener to forget their troubles. Last year saw the release of his debut album, El Colombolandés. ‘Energía’ is a word that frequently slips into his lyrics, which sums up exactly what he’s looking for – and always manages to get – from his audience.
