After 25 successful years, Simply Red is bidding us farewell. As a band, that is, because singer Mick Hucknall will continue his career as a solo artist. “ What an adventure it’s been!” says Hucknall, reflecting on his twenty-five years with the band. Simply Red broke through in their homeland England in 1985, and not long afterwards many Europeans were singing along to Money's Too tight to Mention. Their next hit, Holding Back the Years, went all the way to number one in the U.S. New Zealand, Australia, Japan and South America followed. “I never thought that my career would take me this far.” To say a proper goodbye to their fans across the globe, this year the band will embark on an impressive farewell tour. And the icing on the cake is a performance at the very first edition of the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival.
