Smokey Robinson, along with founder Berry Gordy, is known as the main representative of Motown. His career spans no less thans even decades, both as a solo artist and as a member of The Miracles, and totals more than seventy hits in the Billboard Hot 100. With The Miracles, which he was a member of from 1955 until 1972, Robinson scored two U.S. number 1 hits: The Tears Of A Clown and Love Machine, Part 1; The Tracks Of My Tears is another big audience favorite. Robinson also wrote numerous hits for other artists, such as My Girl, which became one of the most-covered songs in the last 50 years. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, and into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame two years later.
