Cimafunk
Cimafunk is the alter ego of Cuban-born singer, composer and producer Erik Alejandro Iglesias Rodriguez, who is known for mixing funk and hip hop with Cuban and Afro-Caribbean music. The first part of his stage name Cimafunk refers to the cimarrón, Cubans of African descent who resisted and escaped enslavement. The second part refers to the music that gives the Afro-Cuban rock star the freedom to innovate with rhythm, groove and party music. On his acclaimed album El Alimento from 2021 Cimafunk collaborated with well-known names such as George Clinton, Lupe Fiasco and CeeLo Green. Chucho Valdés, legend of Afro-Cuban jazz, sang his praises and in Cuba itself, Cimafunk is also embraced by millennials who draw hope from the way he honors his African and Latino roots as well as American showmanship. His latest album, Pa' Tu Cuerpa, was released last year.
Cory Henry
“Child prodigy” is a term we reserve for gifted musicians who outgrew their living room stage at a young age. People like Prince, Stevie Wonder – and Cory Henry. The singer and multi-instrumentalist astonishes with his multiple gifts but especially excels on his classic Hammond B3 organ, which he fully mastered as a toddler. At the age of six, little Cory wowed audiences at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. He found his soul mates in Snarky Puppy years later, but in 2018 he left that talented outfit to transform venues worldwide into sold-out grooving funk temples with his own band, the Funk Apostles. As a composer, producer and musician, he also found time to collaborate with Imagine Dragons, Smino, Lucky Daye and Rosalía, among others. Henry’s latest album, 2024’s Church, earned him his first solo Grammy Award, for Best Roots Gospel Album.
Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Hamilton DeHolanda, special guests Ivan Lins and Gabriel Grossi
Cuban jazz pianist and composer Gonzalo Rubalcaba is one of the most significant and creative figures within the world of Latin jazz. He was discovered by Dizzy Gillespie and has worked with icons such as Chick Corea, Al Di Meola, Herbie Hancock, Juan Luis Guerra and many, many more. Last year, he joined forces with Brazilian bandolimist Hamilton de Holanda, who is known for mixing choro and contemporary jazz, and for his instrumental virtuosity. The result of the collaboration between these two Latin masters was the album Collab, which was instantly nominated for a Grammy Award. On the album, the two musicians show how much their two instruments complement each other. On stage, they will be joined by two special Brazilian guests: singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose jazz standards have been recorded by legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Quincy Jones and Sérgio Mendes, as well as harmonicist Gabriel Grossi. Prepare yourself for Latin jazz at its best!
Jacob Collier
British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jacob Collier is recognized by audiences, critics, and fellow musicians alike as one of the most gifted young artists of modern times. Hailing from a musical family, he was introduced to music at an early age, singing Bach chorales with the whole family ‘for fun’. In 2013, his videos on YouTube went viral and Collier caught the attention of Quincy Jones, who signed him to his management company. Earning his first two Grammy’s with songs from his debut album In My Room, he then started work on Djesse, a four-volume, 50-song album featuring more than two dozen artists and ensembles. Its last installment, Djesse Vol. 4, was released in 2024. With his music containing elements of everything from orchestral composition to jazz, folk, R&B, rap and pop, the immensely talented Collier turns every performance into a extraordinary spectacle.
