Jon Batiste is a true all-rounder: the American is a singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, television personality, and actor. He already has eight Grammy Awards to his name (out of no fewer than 25 nominations), including Album of the Year for 2021’s We Are. Batiste hails from Louisiana and grew up as part of a veritable New Orleans musical dynasty featuring at least 25 known artists. He himself played percussion and drums in the Batiste Brothers Band from the age of eight. Three years later, he switched to the piano, and at just 17, he released his first album. Batiste has collaborated with many artists, ranging from Prince and Stevie Wonder to Willie Nelson and Mavis Staples. He was also a television bandleader for years on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show. His music is just as diverse, musically floating between gospel, soul, pop, blues, and rock ’n’ roll. He showcases all these influences on his most recent album, 2025’s Big Money.
