Colombian singer, songwriter, and actor 
Carlos Vives found his fame as a star of Colombian and Puerto Rican telenovelas. Although he released three ballad albums, he gained his musical fame after he landed the TV role of vallenato composer Rafael Escalona. He sang the composer’s songs in the series and the two soundtrack albums brought him national success. After that, Vives’ musical career went from strength to strength. In 2001, his album 
Déjame Entrar won him his first Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album. Mixing traditional vallenato with rock elements, Vives keeps on putting out successful albums. He tours regularly and also used his experience and expertise as a coach on the Colombian version of 
The Voice. In 2017, he released his 15th studio album, 
Vives, which included the hit single 
La Bicicleta, featuring Shakira.
