Singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé started singing at an early age. She was awarded an intercalculated degree in neuroscience which was her backup plan in case a career in music didn’t pan out, but she hasn’t had to use her degree yet! The soul singer had a breakthrough with hits such as Next To Me, Read All About It (Part III) and Beneath Your Beautiful (with Labrinth). Her debut album Our Version Of Events (2012) was Number 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart for 10 weeks and was also the year’s biggest-selling album. A year later, she won two Brit Awards: Best British Female Solo Artist and Best British Album of the Year. Besides all that, Sandé wrote hits for other artists as well. In 2012, she performed at both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in London.
