When Pierre-Edouard Décimus and Freddy Marshall introduced the zouk genre in 1979, they never could have predicted how successful the band would become. By combining their favorite music carnival with a modern twist, including influences of rock, this new musical genre was born. In a short period of time they became well known in the Caribbean, Africa and southern Europe.
The group decided to temporarily stop after releasing four albums. Various band members started a solo career, until a compilation was released in 1999, to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the group. Critics talked about the end of Kassav'. The members of the group and the formula would be too old. During a concert in Paris Kassav' proved they are still alive and kicking by bringing no fewer than 32,000 fans in frenzied atmosphere. And we expect them to do nothing less then that in Curaçao!
