As a jazz pianist, composer and arranger Ronchi Matthew is a versatile artist who already has an exceptional career since the age of fourteen. Graduated from the Conservatory of Puerto Rico, it’s no surprise that he played with several international artists including Carla Thomas, Izaline Calister, Zamana Kitoki and the Curaçao Latin Jazz Ensemble.
In 1980 Matthews set a new trend by combining jazz with native work songs. This combination became a large success and set a new standard for all jazz musicians from Curaçao. As a composer he won the CBU festival in Guyana with his composition Loving You Is My Life.
