Silvestre Dangond
Colombian singer and instrumentalist Silvestre Dangond has become a star with his updated take on vallenato, a traditional musical style from the Caribbean regions of Colombia. He attributes his talents to his parents: his father is singer William José “El Palomo” Dangond Baquero, while his mother, Dellys Corrales Rojas, passed down her charismatic nature to him. Growing up in a musical household, Silvestre became interested in performing at a young age, maturing into an accomplished singer and timbale player. After completing high school, he chose to make music his career. He first teamed up with accordion player Ramón López, and after that, accordionist Juancho de la Espriella, with whom he made seven very successful albums, quickly becoming the nation's top vallenato act. From 2013’s album La 9a Batalla, Dangond went it alone and is still topping the charts as a solo artist. His latest album, Gente Valiente, was released last year.
Farruko
Farruko, given name Carlos Efren Reyes, is a reggaeton and Latin pop singer from Puerto Rico. At the age of 16, he began to post his songs under his stage name to MySpace. His first single, Sexo Fuera Del Planeta, gained thousands of followers. Due to his massive success on the Internet, he came to the attention of Puerto Rican radio and music industry executives, who enlisted his vocal talents for other artists. His debut studio album, El Talento Del Bloque, was released when he was 18 and became a huge success. After a second album as well as touring throughout Latin America and the United States and establishing large fan bases in locales such as Venezuela and Colombia, Farruko returned to recording in 2014. To date, he has released six albums and has been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards several times. In 2017, he returned with his sixth studio album, TrapXficante, a fusion of reggaeton and pop urban with Latin trap.
